One of the highlights of my year so far was getting to be on a house building team with the founder of Youth With A Mission, Loren Cunningham.
University of the Nations Workshop
Thanks to a good friend having some work he needed done, I was able to earn some money last month and go to a conference open to every YWAMer.  Every 2 years, as many as are able get together to share about what God has done, what doors he is opening, and just to meet and interact with the amazing people that make up YWAM and the University of the Nations.  I was able to see people I hadn't seen for years, as well as to meet and interact with people who have been leading YWAM since it's very early years.  It was a very encouraging time that was just what I needed after a long year and a half since leaving Denver and setting out to see where God was leading me next.

Homes of Hope
YWAM San Diego/Baja has a ministry where they host teams that come down to Tijuana to work with impoverished working families to build a home on a piece of land they have purchased.  I was blessed to be able to jump onto one of these projects after the conference finished.  The family I built for was a husband and wife, 5 kids, and 1 grandchild.  Alberto, the father, was ecstatic that they would be able to have a concrete floor, walls, and beds for all the kids.  It was great to work beside him as well.
Since the 90's, thousands of families have been able to own their own home due to the many generous people that have worked on these projects.  This particular build team was made up of businessmen, YWAM staff, and advisory board members for the UofN.  It was great to rub shoulders with these men and women of God.
Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter, pray for me, and for joining me for the adventure God has me on!  I made lots of great contacts at this conference, so hopefully I will have news soon as to where I am going and what I am doing next.

God Bless!
Michael

August Update

Just a quick update for August.  Follow me at michaelbrewer.me

I didn't take this picture, nor did it look like a desert, but when I crossed into Colorado, it felt refreshing to be back.
Well after thousands of miles driven, I arrived in Colorado last week.  A final stop for some R&R and seeking the Lord before I dive into my next season.  I'm still not super clear on where the Lord is leading me, but it is now decision time.  I would really appreciate your prayers this month as I make decisions!  I've included some specifics below.  As summer draws to a close, I pray that everyone has enjoyed friends and family this summer, and that the new season brings many new blessings!

Peace
Michael

Prayer requests:
1) Specific vision - with clear vision comes fewer options and easier choices, as well as motivation!
2) Provision/Encouragement - I believe that God wants to provide for me to get an education and serve him, but it is hard to see how sometimes.
3) Peace - In times when I am not sure of my way, I really rely on the Lord to reassure me that he is in this process.
4) A new camera - In June I felt led to give away the camera I had.  I didn't realize how much I relied on it to take note of the world around me and communicate with others.

Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter, pray for me, and for joining me for the adventure God has me on!

A quick update for July

Just a quick update View this email in your browser
Sunrise over South Dakota early in the morning.  Montana to Pennsylvania!  What a trip!
Hello everybody, just wanted to send out a quick note that I was able to make it to Pennsylvania from Montana.  To everyone who hosted me on the way, you blessed my socks off!

I know it would be great to hear from me what I plan to do next, but that is still very up in the air.  I am trying to sort out where to live and attend school next year, and if I am able to do that in conjunction with also continuing to work with YWAM or not.  I will be visiting schools here in Pennsylvania, but also traveling out to Colorado to visit and see what sorts of opportunities are there.

I'm enjoying this season of recuperating and setting a new track with God after my school.  I also, however, am excited for God to show me what the next step is for me.  As you think of me this summer, your prayers are greatly appreciated!
If you haven't visited recently, you haven't missed much because I've been a slacker, but I put a video up on my blog at www.michaelbrewer.me of a water-wheel cornmill I was able to see in Indiana.  It was awesome!  You can also view previous email updates at news.michaelbrewer.me.  Have a great summer everyone!
Disclaimer- I no longer have a good camera, so I apologize for the poor image quality in this update.  Thanks for understanding!

June Update

Summer Beauty

Most people can relate to time moving very fast.  It is hard to believe, though, how fast the time has flown by since I arrived here at YWAM Lakeside back in April.  Now that summer is here in Montana, we have been able to see a lot of the beautiful countryside here in the midst of continuing to have class.  We've covered a lot of topics ranging from Agriculture to Church Planting to being led by the Spirit.  We were also able to travel to a Native American reservation for a week and learn about how to enter a culture and begin to help them see how they fit in God's story.

It's been a great month, and I have gotten very close to my classmates and staff. These schools always come to a close very quickly, but I am so excited for everyone as we go out from here.  I myself will be heading to Pennsylvania to catch up with family, then out to Colorado to meet with friends there.  I am also excited to be attending a large, international YWAM conference in Tijuana, Mexico at the beginning of September.

As far as longer term, I am trying to sort out how to go about obtaining a bachelor's degree in Sustainable Agriculture so that I can work towards being able to aid communities in transforming their landscape, building community, and learning how to garden and grow food.  I'm not sure how this will fall into place, but I trust that God will lead.

On memorial day, we as a school had a chance to go to Glacier National Park.  This is one of the top parks in the country, and the spectacular views helped me understand why.  One of my favorite things about doing a school like this are the relationships that are formed.  When we have a holiday or down time, we are always finding experiences to share together as we enjoy this season of our lives together.
I love how beauty springs up everywhere this time of year.  I am reminded of how good of a job God does in making the world.  I find it so amazing that so many things exist simply to display their beauty.  I hope you get to enjoy some of that beauty this summer.

God Bless!
A few prayer requests.  This school has definitively confirmed to me that I need to be pursuing further training/education in sustainable agriculture.  I feel very burdened for the lack of knowledge and appreciation concerning producing good, healthy food, both here and abroad.  The pathway into becoming more of an expert in this field though is not clear.  I could use prayer for wisdom as to where to live, how to spend my time, where to attend college, if that is the next step, or where to step into a YWAM role that is seeking to develop these programs, though I am not fully trained.  I greatly desire a more in-depth understanding of botany, microbiology, and agriculture, so I am praying for the Lord to guide me into a way to allow me to get education but also continuing to partner with ministries.  I know though that wherever the Lord leads, I will be seeking to disciple people into what it looks like to live a life surrendered to and honoring of Jesus.  Your prayers are greatly appreciated!
