Winter is finally over!

I always love seeing and hearing all of the new beginnings during Springtime. It is a really good time for me as I think about what new beginnings will be coming for me in the next few months. I arrived in Pennsylvania at my parents' home late Monday night.

I am really enjoying spending time with my family here.  This week was spring break for my two youngest brothers, so it was good to spend some time with them.

Over Easter, my whole family was able to get together for the first time in a long time.  We went to church, and had a meal together, it was really good.  I will be spending the rest of this month visiting family and friends.  It is really good to take a step back from the fast pace I've been living at for a time and catch up with the people I love.  It is also really good to be able to take time and process what it is God is speaking to me.

My trip to Colombia is drawing near, though, and I am excited for this 2 month experiment in stepping out for God when you are not sure what exactly he wants you to do.

Thanks for reading!  I hope you had a wonderful Easter and you enjoy Spring as much as I am

Colombia!

I head out on May 4th!  Time is flying by, but I am excited.  Some of the things I will be doing there include running some informal english clubs for the local university students, helping my friends promote a new YWAM base they are starting, and continuing to work on my spanish.  I will also hopefully get to travel to some of the poorer areas of Colombia to see what kind of development work is going on there.
I've been thinking a lot lately about a passage of scripture that encompasses what I want to be working towards as I pursue missions.
Isaiah 58:6-12 talks about God's desire for his people to embrace the hurting and the broken in his Name.  Verse 10 "If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday" some versions say "spend yourself on behalf of" and I really like that wording.
